Heideman & Sons Limited is a family owned forestry company, operating
since 1974. We are located just west of Eganville, Ontario, Canada.
The company is ideally located 90 minutes north of Ottawa, close to the resource base and market distribution channels. Heideman employs over 85 people from across Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec. The company has a substantial land base from which it procures timber, including 2 crown forest management units, numerous private land agreements and company holdings. We purchase and produce both hardwood and softwood products. The company operates two sawmills – a circular mill for larger diameter sawlogs, and a scragg mill for smaller diameter sawlogs (also referred to as boltwood) such as plantation Red Pine. The circular mill was built in 1978 and in 2005 underwent a major modernization project. A new state-of-the-art, high strain band resaw was installed along with other upgrades throughout the plant. The scragg mill was built in 1997 and uses modern sawing techniques to efficiently process boltwood. 100% of the log is utilized in the production of lumber, woodchips, bark, and sawdust. This residue goes to support further production processes in Ontario and Quebec. Both sawmills have been certified as a “Safe Workplace of Ontario” by the Ontario Forestry Safe Workplace Association. As part of its environmental planning, Heideman is actively pursuing ISO-14001 certification, an internationally recognized environmental standard. Also, the company is proud to be a partner in the Eastern Ontario Model Forest. Please click here to view our Environmental Policy. |
